Randy Schwake, CFO –

has over 35 years of experience in business and economic development with a strong credit background in agricultural and commercial lending. He is an effective communicator at high organizational levels including governmental units, boards of directors, senior management, lenders and stakeholders; with proven leadership, networking and business development skills and the ability to create a high profile for a company in its respective market.


With a strong background in production agriculture and banking, Randy has been involved in a variety of new business startups being responsible for strategic planning, raising equity capital, establishing organizational structure, implementation of effective management information systems, financial forecasting, resource allocation, accounting controls, writing and execution of business plans, budgets, hiring and training programs.

Prior to joining Choice Grain, Randy served as Vice-President North America, for World Food Processing, a food soybean company. His responsibilities included strategic planning, project management, food product production performance, oversight of grain processing and trading operations, accounting management and Shareholder and Board communications.

Previous to this Randy’s experience includes serving as CFO of Northwest Grains International, a containerized export company; CFO of North Star Rail Intermodal, a containerized export company; Officer of Production Ag Alliances, an agriculture project consulting firm; Director of Business Development of North Star Commodities and Brokerage (AgMotion), a risk management firm; and President of Alliance Bank, Claremont, MN. 

Randy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Luther College. He grew up on a farm near Kenyon, MN and was on the Kenyon FFA Parliamentary Procedure team.

Thomas Kopp, President/CEO - 


has over 25 years of experience in business development and agricultural marketing of grain, feed and food ingredients. His creative energy has been instrumental in new market development and diversification for agriculture products in domestic and export markets. As Manager of Ingredients and Commodities for World Food Processing, he saw increasing consumer demands to know where their food comes from, how it is grown and processed, and that it is healthy and safe to eat. The agriculture industry lacks the ability to meet these demands in a substantial manner leaving consumers, processors and growers in a quandary. Choice Grain was formed to provide the industry and consumers a platform to supply products with the quantity, quality, purity and traceability desired, in a cost effective and sustainable program.  

Tom’s experience includes domestic and international sales and marketing of feed and food ingredients, feed and food processing, truck, rail, barge and container logistics, Organic and Non-GMO Project Verification Certification, and biogas conversion. His marketing profile includes over 400 different grains and ingredients. In the 4 years prior to forming Choice Grain, Tom’s focus was the Non-GMO and Organic Industry with World Food Processing, a food soybean business. Tom’s responsibilities included; Soy and Pea Protein Powder marketing and sales, process and process control development and implementation, raw product procurement and delivery, toll processing management, Organic and Non-GMO Certification, IP Program documentation, waste stream and byproduct management, Inventory management, and grain marketing of Non-processed grains.    

Other significant previous positions, Tom served as Vice-President/General Manager of North Star Grain International, a containerized grain marketing company; Export Manager –Asia of Hawkeye Gold, an ethanol and DDGS marketing company; Sr. Manager Export Origination, IMD Division of The Scoular Company, an agriculture products marketing company and Director of Domestic Sales of The LaBudde Group, a family owned trading company. 

Tom has a BS degree in Ag Education and Dairy Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught High School Vocational Agriculture and Adult Farm Management before his Agriculture Marketing career.
